To publish an app on the Apple App Store, you must create an Apple Developer account. Membership to the Developer Program is £79 or $99/year and we recommend setting this to auto-renew.
You have the option to enrol to the Developer Program as an Individual or Company. Hype Burst are able to support both Developer account types, but the process for setting up is different.
Should I enrol as an Individual or Company?
This will depend on your business set up. If your app is being published on behalf of a registered company, then you should set up your Apple Developer account as a company. Please note, your company must be officially registered e.g. as a limited company or corporation, and not just a trading name.
If you don't have a registered company for your business or are operating individually, you can set up your developer account as an individual.
What's the difference?
Individual and Organisation accounts benefit from the same features in the Apple Developer program. There are however, some differences in the way your app is published:
Number 1: Developer Name In The App Store
If you publish your app under a company developer account, the registered company name will be displayed underneath the app name in the App Store on your individual app page.
As an individual, your legal name will be shown as the publisher of the app in the App Store.
Number 2: Allowing Hype Burst to Upload Your App Build
On a company developer account, you have the ability to invite other users and teams to upload and publish an app build. Simply invite the Hype Burst development team email address as an Admin on your App Store Connect dashboard, with permission to access Certificates, Identifiers and Profiles. With this permission, we can upload your app build to your account.
As an individual, you cannot invite a user with access to the Developer Resources that are required to upload and publish an app. This means you will need to share your log in credentials with our development team so they can upload, publish and manage app builds on your developer account. We recommend creating a new Apple ID specifically for the app, free of charge. The new Apple ID username and password should be shared with Hype Burst. We will use your log in credentials to upload your app build.
